Reaching an agreement with people with high convictions is a permanent exercise. The ideas of the players have to be integrated into the work plan. Amalgamating the ideas, you create the synergy needed for growth.

The chance of letting someone see something on us that we do not see is one of the achievements of otherness. Otherness is a risk in which if autonomy is seen as self-sufficiency, it is threatened. But the independence includes other´s concept.

Synergy means helping and be helped. It is common that a high-performance mind has strong convictions and tends to close. The challenge is to keep these beliefs without denying otherness.

The people who accompany the player can be helpful offering a positive encouragement to the sportsman so it can give their best, process frustration and start an offensive play. Family and public have a leading role in this while the psychology’s part goes beyond the positive support.

Talented players want others to adapt to them, and that can be annoying, unfair or offensive for the people around them. But the support given by the sportsman environment is very useful for them; it turns these players socially adjusted.

The African proverb is very clear for the issues of performance: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go accompanied“. Being able to embrace the otherness allows the player to feel the reciprocity, gratitude and to be concerned for the wellbeing of those surrounds them. It is the feeling that we are doing well together.

The boundary between “that they adapt to me” and “do not invade me” is too small to be able to find it. At the same time, the balance between not invading someone and not leaving them is very subtle. At the end of the day what is in play is the expectation of being figured out.
